BPD18- True Beauty

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Hey everyone! I’m Ashley and I have a blog over at  A Girl After God’s Own Heart! I post things about God and also try to be inspiring to other teen girls.

What defines beauty? Society today has told girls that they need to weigh a specific number and look a specific way to be considered beautiful. If your nose is shaped a specific way, the only way you can be truly beautiful is if you get a nose job done. This makes me so sad that no one even feels beautiful anymore. I even get caught up in wishing I looked thinner, or bigger in some areas. Why do we want to change ourselves? We were all made special in the way God made us. He didn’t want us all to be the same height, or have the same color hair. We are all made different and special but yet society says that all women have to look this specific way to be beautiful. Why do we all want to look alike?

True beauty isn’t only on the outside it is on the inside. You can be drop dead gorgeous, but if you have a horrible and cocky attitude, you are not going to be that attractive. I know this sounds super cliché but it is what is on the inside that counts. Looks will soon fade. When you get old, you will get gray hair and wrinkles, you won’t look the same. But your attitude and personality will stay the same.

Whenever you feel ugly, you need to look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful, because God made you unique. God thinks you are gorgeous and so do I. Something that may help is if you think of 5 things every single day that you like about yourself and tell yourself this, it will make you feel better about yourself.

Don’t forget you are absolutely gorgeous!

I love all of your comments, but as your mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!";)
