BPD21- Lauren's Favorite Bible Verses

Saturday, June 21, 2014

Hey guys!
As I was trying to decide what to write about for this guest post.  I decided that I would write about a few of my favorite Bible verses and tell you why they are some of my favorites.
1.       Isaiah 41:10, so do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
There are a few reasons that this is one of my all-time favorite verses.  I think one of the main reasons I really like this verse is because it is my birth verse.  I really like this verse because it talks about us never fearing because God will always be there to strengthen and uphold us. It gives me comfort and peace knowing that God is always with me.
2.       Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
I don’t know exactly why this is one of my favorite verses, but I really love it.  I really think that this verse calls us all to be evangelists, and spread the good news of Christ with everyone.  This verse also tells us that God is always with us.
3.       Romans 5:8, But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
This verse is one of my favorites because it tells us how great God’s love is.  I know that there are many verses that tell us this, but I feel that this one states it very clearly. God shows us his love in many ways, but this is one way that He really clearly shows us.
I hope that you all are having a great day!

BPD19- Advocating Orphans

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Hey! I’m TW Wright, or Abrielle Lindsay, whichever you would like to call me is absolutely fine! =)
I am a writer and I usually live in Papua, Indonesia (NOT PNG). I blog at a bunch of different places, but the most frequent place is my blog Indonesia Around Me. I have five siblings and a dog (though my girlie is still in Papua). Another little thing about me is that I want to help orphans.
So this is what my post is going to be about. Orphans.

I’ve been reading a blog called Teens Interceding for Orphans—but for short we just call it TIO—for several months and have been inspired to help orphans.
Leah Good, author of TIO, gave me a book called Silent Tears. I read it and was intrigued from the very start. I learned a lot about orphans from that book.
After I finished Silent Tears, Leah had a guest post on her blog. Actually, she had three. But all about the same thing.
A 14 year old homeschooled girl helped two little boys find a home.

As soon as I finished the articles, I knew that I should do something too.
And I still plan to. I’m going to. And I’m going to do it soon. Real soon.
But that’s not the only thing I’m saying.
I’m saying that YOU can do something as well. You can find a child that needs a home and post about that child on your blog. You can advocate for that child.
We may be teens, but we can do big things for God.
I encourage you to read McKennaugh’s posts about how she helped find Viktor and Yuri a home.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you Khloe Grace for hosting the Blogsversary Extravaganza! =)

BPD15- Jessica's Fashion Show Entry

Sunday, June 15, 2014

Hello everyone!
My name is Jessica Boyer, and I blog with my two younger sisters on our site known as boyerfamilysingers.blogspot.com. I am the first in our family to graduate from being educated at home, and I am a person  who loves: relics of the past; to garden with my family; to craft when I have the time; to go on walks in the early morning; to be active in singing, blogging, and reading, especially the word of God. Although many people think I am the youngest in our family because of my height, I never let that get my goat. I am humbled to know that Christ died to save me from my sins, and pray that I may faithfully run the race that God has allotted me. That is just a snippet of the girl you see down below, and if you want to get to know me and my sisters better you can come watch our Q&A series on our site. Do stop by! You are more than welcome!

I want to say how honored I am to have been asked by Khloe Grace to put up some outfits in her superb Fashion Show. This is the first time I have been a part of something like this, and I want to thank Khloe for inviting me. I hope you all enjoy the outfits I have to share with you all today!
Outfit // Stripes and Silk (Dressy)

I, along with my Mom and two sisters, went to a closing out sale at a vintage shop up in Dayton City in the month of March, and it is there that I found my new favorite dress. As soon as I tried it on I noticed how late 60's, early 70's this garment really was. It still has the simple 60's flare–you can tell by the silhouette and stripe print–and yet there is the unmistakable 70's prairie collar and tie detail. I have tried on many a vintage piece, some ill fitting, some too big, but this one seems to be made just for me, and in fact, Brigi believes that it was tailored for a particular young woman back in its day, as there are no tags to tell us where it came from. I love finding out the story behind vintage garments! But the best part, is the fact that it is 100% silk! Score! Though it was a rather warm day, I didn’t even notice that I was wearing long sleeves! But there! With any such natural fiber, one never really suffers in the heat because of the way the fiber acts to keep one cool and comfortable.

Dress // Vintage; Shoes // DSW; Hair Florets // Borrowed; Earrings // Borrowed

Outfit// Retro Vibe (My Style)

I wore this smashing outfit just as Spring was coming on, and it reminds me of a retro mama who is dressed for going picnicking in park with her little brood. I don't normally pick an outfit that says retro all the way through, as I like a little more ease and comfort in my clothing–you know, the kind that I wear, not the kind that wears me–but this one worked really well. Just enough comfort, and most importantly, style.

I have never actually worn a scarf tied under my chin before, but it really did the trick in keeping the flying locks out of my face during the shoot! It was a windy one! Originally I had it secured loosely around my shoulders, but as soon as we walked out the door, I decided to make like the "fashionable grannies", and tie it up. I now understand why they styled their scarves like this during the vintage era– it was a smart way to keep your hair tidy! I have always admired this look but never had the opportunity to try it on myself. Its a keeper! You should try it too!

Shirt: Gifted // Skirt: Hand-me-up from Charlotte // Shoes: Hand-me-down from Mom // Scarf: Thrifted // Sunglasses: Marshalls // Purse: Gifted // Bangles: Gifted

Outfit// Something Old Something New (Casual)
As the title implies, these garments are a combination of something old–the lovely homemade skirt I swapped from Charlotte–along with something new–this empire waist, steel grey blouse, thrifted from our local GoodWill. (So thankful for that store!)

I wore this casual outfit last year during the hot and rather humid Summer months, and living in Ohio, or just about anywhere in the Midwest for that matter, will give you the extremes of both Summer heat, and Winter cold. When the sweaty days come around, I have the hardest time wearing make-up when it feels like mouth outside, and that is why I am not wearing it here. It brings on the irritable snappy side of me. Not fun. So I just make things easier by not wearing it.

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention... the white collar is Not attached to my blouse! I found this doily like collar at a local antique store, and knowing how valuable it would be to me when fussing with large gaping necklines I decided it would be a good investment. It does the trick!

BPD2- Simple High Bun

Monday, June 2, 2014

Hello all! My name is Paige, and I blog at Sunday Best and All the Rest. Today I would like to share with you a tutorial for a fun and simple hairdo that I've recently started doing. Thanks to Khloe Grace for giving me the chance to guest post at her blog!
Simple High Bun

1. Gather your supplies. You will need several bobby pins, a ponytail holder, hairspray, and maybe a fun accessory. You will also want to use a spray bottle with water.
2. Spritz your hair with water if it hasn't been freshly washed. My hair definitely stays better when it's wet! :)

3. Comb your hair up into a high ponytail on your crown. It may take a few tries to get it just where you want it.

4. Secure the ponytail.

5. Now, begin to wind your hair into a bun, beginning in the center. You  will want to help your hair make a pleasant shape by making sure each time you go around your ponytail is being wound outside of and not on top of the rest of the bun.

6. Continue to wind until you run out of hair, then tuck the ends under the bun.

7.Pin all the way around the bun. Pull out any pieces that need more volume, and tuck and pin any parts that stick out too much.

8. Pin any flyaways, and pull out any curls you want to keep, then spray the hairdo all over. Pat loose pieces of hair into place while the spray is still wet.

9. Add something fun like a flower to your hair - this is entirely optional, of course, but it helps to hide any little mistakes. :)

Now you're ready for a day of hiking, an evening out to dinner, or just a relaxing day at home! Have fun with your makeup and hair accessories to change the look and dress it up or down. :) Have a lovely day everyone!

BeYOUtiful: No No's and Oh Yes's Color Edition

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I was debating as to what method I would use, Shari Braendel's system, or the traditional four seasons system.  I decided on the seasons because I find that one easier to place yourself in.
The base for deciding what season you are in is determining your undertone.  Is it blue or gold?  A blue undertone tends for the cool colors of Summer and Winter?  Or are you more for the warm undertones of Spring and Fall?
I myself am a definite autumn.  With light brown and gold features and paler skin, this season fits me the best by far.  I come to life in dark greens, oranges, and browns.  How ironic is it that those seem to all be fall colors?
This link is an extremely helpful color analysis that I would suggest you take.  It's very informative and easy.
Why find out your season?  Because it will help you determine what colors look best on you!  It goes along with body type and the types of clothes that look good on you.  Just like that, your coloring determines the colors that look good on you.

The Beautiful Blogger Award

Monday, May 5, 2014

Thank you Kiri Liz, for nominating me.  I love your questions so much and am super excited to answer them!
1. Thank the blogger who awarded you
2. Answer the ten questions he/she asked
3. Nominate ten bloggers to receive the award
4. Ask them ten questions
5. Let them know they've been awarded

1. Favorite superhero (any will do)?
How ironic that I should be asked this!  A little while back I had wanted to start watching some superhero movies because I hadn't really watched any before... *gasp*.  So I've been getting into them a lot lately.  I love Captain America.  There's no comparison between any other hero.  I just went to see the Winter Soldier twice... it is amazing!
2. What color socks are you wearing right now?
Bright pink.  I'm actually wearing short combat boots today so you can't actually see the socks.
3. If I were to visit you for the afternoon, what would you plan on doing?
I would most likely play four square (a new fav) watch a few movies and maybe go for a walk.  Who knows?
4. Best pizza topping?
Definitely sausage!  I only like plain, pepperoni, sausage, and Canadian bacon.
5. Can you introduce us to your family in less than three sentences?
I have a very spiritual and talkative dad, a fun mom, a somewhat annoying somewhat funny little brother, and a very cute, spoiled dog.  We are all Christians but we all have very different personalities.
6. If you could be proficient (as Lady Catherine says) in any instrument, what would it be?
It would have to be piano.  I play it but I am not "proficient" at all.  I think that it would sound so beautiful if I were able to play complicated songs.
7. Five favorite Disney songs off the top your head. Go!
See if you want off the top of my head it may not be very accurate but...
"Let it Go" Frozen (obviously)
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" Mulan
"Part of Your World" Little Mermaid
"Under the Sea" The Little Mermaid
"Reflection" Mulan
Somewhat repetitive I know...
8. Your opinion of maple syrup, please?
I love it!  Pure is better but I can go with the non-pure.
9. What's your favorite soup?
I actually don't like soup.  The idea of something so hot sounds good, but I don't like it.  Do spaghetti O's count?
10. Which fictional hero/heroine would you want as a sibling?
I wish Peeta Mellark was my brother.  If you have read the Hunger Games, you understand.  Wouldn't he be the most amazing older brother?!
11. Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland?
It's funny that this is a question, because I've been in both of these plays.  I liked being in Alice and Wonderland much better, but I hate the story so I would have to say Peter Pan.

Layla and Hagen @ Two Blessed Damsels
Mary Leigh @ Thrift for Today
Ireland Rhea @ Ireland Rhea
Rebekah and Cassie @ Calico Sisters
Chloe @ Blooming Maiden

1. Have you ever left the country?  If so, where did you go and why?
2. Have you read the Hunger Games?  What are your thoughts on it?
3. Who is your favorite U.S. president?
4. What is your favorite song... or top three if you can't decide?
5. What is one of your biggest life goals?
6. What is one of the most embarrassing things that has happened to you?
7. Do you follow sports?  If so, what sport and what is your favorite team?
8. Have you ever attended a dance?  If so, what was it for?
9. Do you have a job?
10. When was the last time you saw a movie in the theater?  What was it?

BeYOUtiful: Color Matters

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Today, you are going to be learning about what color group you are, light, deep, soft, clear, warm, or cool.  Some of these groups may not apply to most of you, because often times it is older people that fall into certain groups.  I do want you to know that I didn't create these groups, once again it is from the book Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad.  I would seriously suggest buying it.  It is amazing!
You may have been familiar with the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter.  This is slightly different.  You can do the free color analysis here!  I think that I am probably a soft, but it's possible I may be a deep too.  If you would rather, you may also do a seasonal color analysis like what I talked about earlier.  For me, that one is more definite.  My season for that one is Autumn.  It shouldn't be too hard to find an analysis for that on the internet.  Or, you can read the old Color Me Beautiful book.
I know this post is super short, but it's just a set up for what's to come.  Comment with your season/color group!

I Love Thursday... and Spring!

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Hey girls!  Are you all hoping for Spring as much as I am?!  I thought it was about time I had another I Love Thursday, since you all seem to like it so much!

My new headphones, except they have a magenta-ish outlining on them and not the black or purple or whatever that is...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!  My new favorite band!  I'm listening to them ALL THE TIME!!!

The wonderful response I have been getting to my blog party!  This is great!  Thank you SO MUCH!  I'm so happy to see you excited and involved, because I too am so excited!  I really need you all to get this party out there as much as you can, so a lot of people can attend.  I've got some really good sponsors for giveaways lined up, some great guest posters, and tons of entrants to the contests!  EXCITING!  I think it will live up to it's name and truly be an extravaganza!

Getting ready for spring by wearing skirts, who cares if you freeze!

I know I'm just a tad bit late to the party... a lot late!  But I am really liking all things Hunger Games right now.  I know that not all of you all like it and have good reasons not to, so I am going to be doing a post explaining why I do soon!

New site I have found and am loving!  You can read other people's fan fiction here, write your own, and get reviewed by others.  Also there is A SYOT (Submit Your Own Tribute) (Hunger Games thing)  going on that I am going to be (well really, my characters are) participating in here!

My new dress that I got for like $3 clearance at Khols, isn't it gorgeous?!  If you can't tell from the picture, the bottom is lace.

My claire's infinity necklace only for a buck!  Don't you love 10 for 10?

My bow earring from claire's also a dollar!

We rented this one, it was good, and the acting was also good!

Can this girl ever get enough chocolate?

Sorry for the sometimes poor image quality, none of these pictures are mine, I take no credit for them.
